The currency of Bangladesh is the Bangladeshi taka, denoted by the symbol "Tk" or "৳" (ISO code: BDT). Wikivoyage uses Tk to denote the currency. One taka is divided into 100 poysha. Coins in Bangladesh are issued in denominations of ৳1, ৳2 and ৳5. Banknotes in Bangladesh are issued in denominations of ৳2, ৳5, ৳10, ৳20, ৳50, ৳100, ৳200, ৳500 and ৳1,000.

The national and official language of the country is Bengali (Bangla), which is written in its own script. It is a member of the Indo-Aryan language family like Hindi and Urdu. Bengali grammar is fairly regular (nouns are not gendered, the language has few to no exceptions), but the most difficult aspect of the language is the script.
